Chapter Eight : You're staying here
Zak had chosen to stay awake, waiting for Cassie to reappear at the door. He hadnt questioned why she was going to the college and just had let her go. Most of the night he was pacing back and forth in the room, pondering the possibilities of why she wasnt coming back. She was a busy person, he knew that. He didnt know when he heard the snores from Tom downstairs, or Alices yells whenever she discovered that Sam had almost eaten everything in Cassies kitchen. Zak wasnt sure when he drifted off to sleep really. He just happened to be now waking up.
He was laying awkwardly on Cassies bed, his feet dangling over the edge. When he awoke it was dusk and he knew that he had managed to sleep a whole day. Zak half expected Cassie to be downstairs waiting for him to get up, but she wasnt there. Alice greeted him with a frown.
The poor girl hasnt returned, Alice said calmly. Zak sighed and grabbed his coat from the closet door handle. He threw a glance towards Tom, who was snoring in the chair. Zak quickly put on his jacket, watching as Alice realized what he was doing.
You cant go find her
this is a big city. Its near impossible. Please listen to me Zak. You cant go missing also. Have some sense, she pleaded.
Oh, like you have any? Cmon Alice. She could be in trouble. Would you like me to have some sense and forget about you if you went missing? he questioned. Cmon Alice. Let me go.
Alice stepped out of the doorway and watched as Zak entered the cold night outside, slamming the door behind him.

Explaining? Ive done nothing wrong, Cassie cried. This was all a dream, all of it. Zak wasnt real and she was sitting at home with Hannah. A set of red and a set of purple eyes stared down at her, as if they were gazing into her soul. She felt a strong hand encircle her wrist and yank her through the doorway into the living room. Cassie was thrown onto the floor in the living room, both males peering down at her.
The taller familiar one had the dark purple eyes and the long black hair. He was certainly the one that had just grabbed her and the one that had kidnapped her. The other one she hadnt seen before. He had shaggy black hair that hadnt been cut in what appeared to be years, and red eyes shown out from behind his bangs. Both were deathly pale, and both appeared menacing.
We do not tolerate little girls like you running around our city, the one with the red eyes said, do not lie to us. Explain exactly why you are spying on us.
Cassie looked to both of them, searching for some sort of salvation. She found no emotion in their faces. I dont understand. I havent followed you. I just want my friend back. I came to save her.
Liar, the long-haired one hissed. Shes been following me after I hunt.
After Hannah was kidnapped! she cried.
How did you know where I was?!? he yelled back.
Dreams, Cassie whispered. You were in my dreams! You killed the prostitute, you killed Teresa! You killed many others that I dont know about!
Spy! the shaggy-haired one hissed. Demetri, shes a spy!
How did you come across the power to dream of us while we kill? Demetri, the purple-eyed one, questioned.
It just happened! One day I came home and I dreamt of the first murder. I know where they lie. Trust me.
Demetri, kill her! the other male pleaded. She knows too much!
Be quiet Alexander. She might be useful to us, you know. Demetri suggested.
Useful! Ha! Shes a hindrance!
Cassie watched as they argued over her fate. She noticed that her phone was over by the other side of the couch. Of course they wouldnt leave it with her. She crawled forward, extending her hand to grab it. She almost had the phone until she was pulled back by her hoodie and an immediate pain flowed through her hand.
A large boot that of Demetris was pinning her fragile hand to the wood floor. She was pulled backward to the point of choking. Demetri lifted up his boot and Cassie flew back into Alexanders arms.
Youre staying here, he said bitterly. Cassie flailed, picked and punched. NO! NO! she chanted. Alexander wasnt hurt one bit when they reached the short walk to the basement. Without a second thought, he threw her in and closed the door quickly. He locked it with a simple skeleton key. Cassies banging upon the door followed.
Im telling you Demetri, its better just to end it, Alexander said with a disgusted look, before brushing past his brother to go outside.
