You have no idea how happy that just made me. :D I want to write VOM again now.

Also, I'm feeling a bit proud because I managed to score an A on my Algebra II test.

I just thought I'd share that. :aww:

An experience I'd rather forget...

Tue Sep 22, 2009, 5:18 PM

:bulletpurple: The Usual

Instead of giving you all a long intro to what happened to me okay, I'll just say it bluntly: I was in a car crash today. I ended up going to the hospital, because my left side hurt and I had very low blood pressure, low blood sugar, an anxiety attack, and one half of a heat stroke at the same time. Waiting in the ER was a bit like hell--I was in so much pain and so worked up that I couldn't breathe. I was worried that the impact from the crash messed up the metal rods placed in my spine four years ago, but the x-rays showed that the rods were untouched. Overall, I managed to bruise a few bones on my left side and pull a few muscles. I'm okay, but I'm still in a great deal of pain. I get two days off of school because of my injuries and the fact that I have bronchitis, though. That's a bit of a plus.

My grandma (the driver) and her friend (the passenger) are okay. My grandma stayed in the hospital because they wanted to check up on her (she's elderly, after all) but will be released soon. Her friend was completely unharmed. We're all okay, but the car was completely totaled. It was a mess. It wasn't my Volkswagen (thankfully--it would have been so much worse if it was, because my car is smaller and really doesn't do well with high-speed impact), but it was my grandma's Honda. We're sorting out the insurance and things are working out.

It really could have been so much worse. I'm glad it wasn't.

I feel silly, though, because when the doctor advised me to stay home for two days, I related it to my story. When Cassie goes to the hospital in WBOH/VOM, I wasn't sure if she'd get days off because of her wrist/her concussion. Now I know that she would get days off in a situation like that. ;D

I'll be fine. I'll get some rest, but hopefully I'll also write VOM in-between.

Chapter Two is Out!

Thu Sep 10, 2009, 4:34 PM

:bulletpurple: The Usual

I learned something last night-- I am, contrary to what I thought originally, a very light sleeper. I went to bed relatively early for me (12am) and left my cell phone on the side table. I don't know around what time (I think 1am or 2am) I heard it vibrate, but thought nothing of it and went back to sleep. A dream started after I fell asleep again, and in the dream, I remember walking down the street when suddenly my cell phone went off. I retrieved it from my purse, but when I said "hello" no one was on the other line. Then, a different phone vibrated, and the sound was coming from my purse. I reached in and grabbed a phone identical to the one I had just pulled out, tried to answer, but got no response. This went on until I had pulled out four identical cell phones, and then they all went off at the same time.

In the dream, I happened to glance at the clocks on the phones once or twice and they read 1:30am. The next morning I checked my phone, and I had received four calls: one at 1am, and the rest at 1:30am, 1:33am, and 1:40am. So, essentially, when the phones went off in the dream, the sounds were actually coming from my cell phone in real life. :o I must have woken up and glanced at the clock, because I'm not psychic and I can't predict the actual time, especially in a dream...

Maybe there's a message to take from this. I think I'm trying to tell myself to actually answer my phone from time to time. :XD:

I just thought I'd share that.

Also, I'd also like to share that the new VOM chapter has been finally sent out. :D

Movie Time!

Sat Sep 5, 2009, 6:36 PM

:bulletpurple: The Usual

Tonight, I managed to set some time aside to watch a few movies. I normally don't get to because I don't have the time or patience, but I'm glad I did force the two I watched in my schedule.

First, I re-watched 'American Beauty' for my Composition 2 class. We have to write an analysis on one of the characters, and honestly, it's the easiest assignment I've ever had to do. The hardest thing was choosing a character, because there are two or three that I like. Anyways, it's a GREAT movie. At first I thought I wouldn't like it, because the title made me think of some stupid blonde American slut, but the film was anything but. It was twisted, perverted and darkly funny at times, but it's one of those movies that haunt you for hours or days after you watch it.

Second on the list was Repo! The Genetic Opera. It was suggested to me by a friend a while back, and for some reason, I happened to remember it and decided to watch it. I was a bit hesitant upon watching it because Paris Hilton played a part, but so did Nivek Ogre, so I gave it a try. For the first twenty minutes of the film, I thought it was really cheesy, but I stuck with it and I ended up loving it despite the fact that almost all of the girls in the movie looked like sluts. The more I think about it, though, the girls fit in with the movie's theme of society being shallow, greedy, and quick to judge on appearance. The only complaints I have are that some of the songs (it's an opera/musical, after all) weren't as good as others, and it ended too quickly. The gore was well-executed in my opinion (some parts even made me cringe),the characters were portrayed and acted out well, and the plot was very original. It's definitely up there in my list of favorite movies. Thank you, Kyle, for the suggestion.

Tomorrow, I watch Donnie Darko. I have yet to see it, and I should make time.

Also, tomorrow, the next chapter of VOM should be out. :D

In other news, I finally finished "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak a few days ago. Go read it, it's amazing and so horribly sad.

College

Thu Aug 27, 2009, 12:24 PM

:bulletpurple: The Usual

Warning: long journal ahead!

I haven't really been on dA much in the past two weeks because I've been at school. I figured that I should post something to let you guys know that I'm not dead. ;P

My classes have been okay... my only high school class is Algebra II, and it's the worst. As for college classes, American History and Health Science suck, while College Success (a mandatory preparation class) and English Composition 2 are fun. American History would be so much better if the "American" was crossed off and replaced with "World", though. Health Science is not fixable. The teacher is nice, but the class is just awful.

Besides academics, I'm noting how college/university life is. Some of the interesting things I've observed, experienced, and learned are listed below:

- Just because someone is in college classes DOES NOT make them intelligent, or for some of the girls, less of a slut

- College professors don't care. At all. They all seem to have a phobia of mobile phone and laptop usage in classes, though.

- Multi-tasking is a new ability of mine... I get my homework done inbetween writing my novel and reading my textbooks

- It's really hard to write your novel when your friend is cheering "Go, go, go! Finish that page! Don't put your pen down, or I'll break your fingers!"

- I hate the question "What is your novel about?"

- Generosity has its bad points

- The Florida sun is hot when you're waiting outside

- Getting up at 5am is a pain in the ass

- 100 Algebra problems for homework every night is hell

- The campus squirrels are adorable

- It is perfectly okay to write your novel while the teacher is lecturing, but make it look but you're taking intense notes

- Having an outgoing friend in high places helps

- Public transportation is scary

- There are giant mushrooms growing wildly around the campus

- Most, if not all, college kids hate seeing a sixteen year old take the same classes as them

There is a lot of freedom at the school, and a good majority of the people there are friendly, including the squirrels. The squirrels are like the campus pets, they walk right up to people looking for food. I always buy French Fries and throw them to the squirrels. x3 Half of the college kids that walk past me probably think I'm crazy, because I talk to the squirrels like I would my cat or my dog...

Today my friend Peyton and I ate outside, and we were bombarded by three little critters. I fed them my French Fries while she read a news article on her laptop. One of the squirrels dropped their French Fry over the wall and I said something like "Oh, look what you've done now, you've dropped your food over the wall" and Peyton asked who I was talking to. Eventually, she took interest in feeding the squirrels, and we hand fed them. When I was talking and I thought that the squirrels were still eating, I grabbed a French Fry to eat it when suddenly one of the squirrels jumped on my hand and stole the fry. :XD: I got scratched, but it was a unique experience.

There is actually a purpose to this journal other than telling you about the squirrel attack and college--that is, to tell you that I will not have internet from Friday to Sunday. I'm on vacation to the beach, unfortunately. Currently, my top priority is to buy sunblock (SPF 95) so I won't get burnt.
